AEQUO MATERIA was founded in 2022 by Claire Picard. The work began with interior objects influenced by brutalist and industrial architecture, using stainless steel and raw aluminium from the start. Finishes were kept raw, and marks, weight, and structure were not corrected.

Over time, attention shifted from architecture itself to what exists around it: objects, structures, and environments that are usually ignored, such as service areas, technical parts, functional elements, and transitional spaces. These places show shapes made only to work, with forms reduced to their role, proportions decided by use and repetition without intention. This is where ideas come from, not from decoration but from observation.

This way of looking slowly moved into jewellery, using the same source of inspiration at a different scale. Jewellery is treated as an object. The material changes to 925 silver, while shapes come from unseen objects and structures found in everyday environments.

This is what drives the work: looking at what is usually unseen and using those shapes as they are.
